The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Covington is accepting applications for position of an Adjunct Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Instructor at the main campus.

Required Qualifications

  • Technical diploma in instructional area or equivalent higher education with credentials in related field. 
  • Minimum of three years of experience in the HVACR field within the last five years.
  • Must possess proficient knowledge of the Refrigeration Cycle, Basic Electricity, Reading Electrical Schematics, Universal EPA Certification, Basic Standard Measurements, Identify and explain working components of an HVACR system, Air Distribution and Balance, Variable Speed Fan and Compressor Technology, Air Source Heat Pumps, Geothermal Heat Pumps, Water Cooled Condensers, Cooling Towers and Pumps, Ice Machine Operation and Maintenance, Gas Furnaces, Electric Furnaces, Residential Energy Auditing, HVAC Duct Installation, VRV and VAV Systems, Psychrometric Chart, Hydronic Heat, Indoor Air Quality.
  • Must possess the organizational and communications skills necessary to be an effective teacher and to interact with high school and adult students.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree preferred.
  • Prior teaching or evidence of ability to teach students is a plus.

Responsibilities

The HVACR Adjunct Instructor will fill in during the instructor’s absences. This position provides theory and hands-on skills instruction to students in areas including, but not limited to Refrigeration Cycle, Basic Electricity, Reading Electrical Schematics, Universal EPA Certification, Basic Standard Measurements, Identify and Explain Working Components of an HVACR System, Psychrometric Chart, Air Distribution and Balance, Variable Speed Fan and Compressor Technology, Air Source Heat Pumps, Geothermal Heat Pumps, Water cooled Condensers, Cooling Towers and Pumps, Ice Machine Operation and Maintenance, Gas Furnaces, Electric Furnaces, Residential Energy Auditing, HVAC Duct Installation, VRV AND VAV Systems, Psychrometric Chart, Hydronic Heat, Indoor Air Quality. The instructor must monitor, and evaluate individual students’ progress; maintain appropriate documentation of student progress; submit timely reports; and maintain close communication with the HVACR full-time Instructor and TCAT Covington administration.
